Circa’s Director of International Development is a new role created to drive the development of new works, new markets and new opportunities. Working with Yaron Lifschitz and our executive team, the Director of International Development combines superlative interpersonal skills with a deep love of Circa’s work. Both right and left brain are required as creative envisaging, strategic development and new show dreaming jostle for your attention with budgets, schedules and logistics.

Underneath your calm and delightful exterior you have a hide of steel. Your dogged perseverance and a Trojan work ethic are supported by savage attention to detail; yet you never lose sight of the big picture. Your understanding of all aspects of theatrical production helps inform the major strategic directions you champion. You are a good listener and a fast learner who loves communicating with diverse stakeholders.

You have or can rapidly acquire a vast network of contacts across the arts and cultural sector. You are happy to work remotely; self-directed yet highly accountable. You have impeccable ethics.

Circa’s Director of International Development can be based anywhere in the world. Your working hours will be long but are flexible and international travel is required. Knowledge of French or languages in addition to English is an advantage. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a love of creative problem solving are essential.

Duties and responsibilities include:

- Drive Circa’s international touring opportunities by developing and implementing sales strategies and plans, negotiating and booking tours.
- Develop new, and manage existing partnerships for commissions, creations and presentations.
- Oversee and coordinate Circa’s agents, tour presenters, promoters and international marketing.
- Represent Circa at shows, arts markets, foyers and industry forums (as well as pubs, restaurants and elevators).
- Collaborate with Circa’s Artistic Director and creative teams to develop, imagine and deliver on new creations.
- Work closely with Circa’s Senior Producer and logistics team to ensure tours are safe, viable and deliverable.
- Contribute to company-wide planning and development.

Reporting Relationships:

Reporting to the Artistic Director, you will work directly with Circa’s General Manager, Strategic Initiatives Manager, Senior Producer and Circa’s team of agents.
Some additional information

You will need to be flexible, as this role will involve working outside the normal office hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Travel and out of hours work are required.
On appointment to this position a probationary period may apply.
